Our History

Pharmacist Nicholas Gerolymatos opens his first pharmacy in the very centre of Athens that soon becomes a reference point for Athenians.

The pharmacy is completely destroyed during the “December-events” of the WWII.

A new Athens-centre pharmacy is inaugurated.

The son, Panagiotis Gerolymatos opens a commercial company –P.N. Gerolymatos S.A. – Veterinary drugs from Kabi and later on from the French Merieux are the first products the company distributes in the local Greek market

The company’s own ultra-modern pharmaceutical manufacturing facility is inaugurated in the North of Athens, Kryoneri.

This decade marks the rapid growth for P.N. Gerolymatos. The company begins its exports activities, enters the Cosmetics industry representing brands such as La Prairie & Calvin Klein for the local Greek market and inaugurates a new complex of offices in Kryoneri, Athens. Towards the end of the decade, P.N. Gerolymatos acquires Glaxo Wellcome’s production facilities and offices in Kryoneri and expands to more offices.

This decade is one of the most productive and important for the company. Following the acquisition of Glaxo Wellcome’s production facilities in Kryoneri, the company expands to numerous manufacturing cooperations. At the same time, its owned pharmaceutical wholesalers, Gerolpharm, opens and two research companies, Medexis and Santa Pharma.

Having it’s sight on international business, P.N. Gerolymatos SA creates branches in France, Turkey, Hong Kong and the U.S.A., acquires Foltene and Larous Phrama in Italy, and Santa Balanos together with its pharmaceutical plant in Menidi. This plant continues the production of Sinomarin and Tamarine to this day.

P.N. Gerolymatos local Greek business includes human and animal pharmaceutical products, diagnostics and parapharmaceutical products and represents global cosmetics brands such as La Prairie and Calvin Klein, amongst others.

Within this momentous decade, P.N. Gerolymatos becomes the largest Greek pharmaceutical company in terms of sales revenue, and one of the top 100 companies in Greece.

All Greek operations are divested to a Greek conglomerate while the Company holds on to its international operations.

The Company becomes renamed to Gerolymatos International. Within the same year, Panagiotis Gerolymatos passes away, and his son, Nicholas Gerolymatos -3^rd generation- takes over the Company.

Gerolymatos International undergoes major restructuring, strengthens its International Operations while preparing to re-enter the Greek market with the formation of new local business units.

Gerolymatos International develops three new business units for Greek market; OTC/Pharmacy BU (representing our own brands and distribution products such as Hipp organic milks & baby foods), Optics BU (representing Alcon vision care portfolio) and Veterinary BU (representing Boeghringer Ingelheim Vet portfolio, formerly known as Merial).

The company joins forces with Galenica Greece and establishes Simvis S.A. who operates as a 3PL pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, hosting the manufacturing of numerous international products.

In the same year, Laboratoire AIM in Brittany France, is fully acquired.

Gerolymatos International acquires the Tamarine trademark from GSK for 40 international markets.

Sinomarin celebrates its 20^th year anniversary. In the same year, Gerolymatos International wins Gold Prize with Sinomarin® at the Greek Exports Awards for Top Branded Export Product.

Gerolymatos International celebrates 10 years of its new era.

Τhe company receives an honorary distinction in the Salus Index list of Healthiest Growing Companies as well as Gold Prize with Foltene® at the Greek Exports Awards for Top Branded Export Product.
